You will see people using negative reinforcement to obtain desired behavior out of people.

All their lives, folks have been conditioned to worry.

Worry about failing exams, about not being loved as much as their kin.

Worrying about not being able to make friends, about not getting into good colleges

about not being able to make as much money as their peers, about not enjoying the same status as others.

About being left behind, about not succeeding! About being mocked, about being abandoned.

Find some time and go back in your childhood. You must have been conditioned to worry with some aspect of your life. This negative reinforcement that conditions people, if not understood, molds the psyche of a person to worry. Soon, this worry spreads over to other aspects of that person's life. This causes anxiety.

Some anxiety is good.

If one feels anxious about walking in the unsafe part of the town late at night, that worry is good. It keeps you feel.

But anxiety about unnecessary cynicism about what tomorrow would bring is not constructive. Always thinking of things that wouldn't go right is not empowering.

This type of anxiety cripples a person. This anxiety shakes the belief of a person on themselves.

In Hinduism, there is a way to manage this ever existing anxiety of the uncertain. It is to meditate upon a chosen all-powerful God and leave your circumstances on it.

In English, there is a saying. When one has had enough; they ask God to "Take the Wheel" which essentially means that one is no longer able to give direction to one's life and would like the intervention or help of some higher intelligence. This higher intelligence is free of biases, empowers righteousness, punishes wrongdoings and brings balance to the world.

However, there is a systematic way of understanding the higher intelligence. In fact, we all possess this higher intelligence and acting according to it has the potential to transform our lives. It just needs to be understood, tapped and harnessed, like one would with a machine. Yes, this higher intelligence is like a machine, easily understandable, manageable and tamable.

This higher intelligence has no shape but some people like to tap into it using idols.

It has no gender, but some find it easy to understand it by assigning it a gender.

Some people deny its existence, yet some assign credit to this higher intelligence for everything around themselves.

In Hinduism, the entire literature dedicated to the study of the subject of Tantra is actually an attempt to systematize the process of understanding, tapping and harnessing this higher intelligence to create desirable circumstances.

What if I told you that there is a way to live stress-free! What if I told you that there is a system of thinking that will help you make sense of whatever is going on around you. That this way of life will empower you to get more relaxation in life. That if you learn about it, your overall level of contentment with life will increase. And not only will it increase, but it might just blow up the roof of your perspective and shoot for the stars.

I am going to reveal pieces of that system to you. Once you read enough about those pieces and meditate upon them in your leisure time, those pieces come together and begin to make sense to you. This is majorly a very anecdotal evidence based system.

One part of the system I'll describe here is: Journaling

Writing has tremendous power. It helps you make sense of your thoughts. When you sit and write, you start to think about things you usually think about. Hence, writing is fundamentally a meditative exercise.

Here is how you could write to get closer to the higher intelligence I was talking about earlier above:

You could:

  1. Maintain a physical journal where you could pen down your thoughts

  2. Start a blog and do the same think electronically.

Journaling is an activity that makes your thoughts lucid in a very short amount of time. You get in tune with yourself and really begin to understand who you are and why you do what you do.

In the words of Carl Jung: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it Fate."

With journaling, you begin to see these beautiful glimpses of all the thoughts that make you YOU. What you call "I" is a collection of thoughts you have created about yourself with the help of your environment. It is your utmost duty to understand who this 'I' is.

Journaling is an activity that detaches you from that 'I' for a while and helps you see yourself objectively as a second person. This will help you assess yourself. This assessment will get you closer to the higher intelligence we were talking about. That higher intelligence will help you relax, and not fret about things as much because now you understand yourself. You will be more aware about the things happening to you.

Most of the worry originates from uncertainty. Once you begin to understand the reason due to which things happen to you, you will get clarity. That clarity will help you be more certain and in turn, it will make you more relaxed. Closer to the higher intelligence.
