You don't like your circumstances? Learn This From the Lotus.
You will see lotus as a symbol used at multiple places in Hinduism. It is used as an Asana or seat for many Gods and Goddesses.

You will see it outside of temples as stone carvings and the human figurines carved in stone holding it.

It is also used as a symbol to denote the Sahasrara Chakra as a lotus with a thousand petals. (Read more about the Chakras in this article)

In Buddhist texts, there is very profound hymn:
ॐ मणि पद्मे हम
Meaning: The jewel is in the lotus.
But why is lotus used so extensively? Here is why:
Lotus as a flower has a very unique quality. It grows in mud. As it grows, it finds itself surrounded by stale, murky water. Yet, it is untouched by the filth around it. Not even a single drop of that murky water could stay on its petals. Yet, people are mesmerized by it when they look at it growing so elegantly amid all the filth. People think how can such a beautiful enchanting flower growing in such filthy place? People are in awe of it.
Be like lotus. Whenever you think your environment is not good, be like lotus. Focus on lotus. Focus on being untouched by the surrounding. I know you become the product of your environment. That is why lotus occurs so frequently in Hinduism as a symbol.
It is the ultimate ideal of a quality that you must aspire for. Get a tattoo of it if you like, so that you are constantly reminded of it everyday. Or draw its painting and hang it around your house. It is not a surprise that the lotus flower is considered the most sacred and pious in worship.
Be like Lotus. Learn from Lotus. Meditate upon lotus.
Thanks for reading.
Sincerely yours
